 ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS
SUBMIT YOUR FINAL TRANSCRIPT AND OTHER ACADEMIC DOCUMENTS
Prior to enrolling at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, all confirmed students will need to submit official final transcripts and other verification documents by July 1.
The Office of Admissions compares these official documents against the student’s Self-Reported Academic Record submitted with their application.
In order to verify that students have met these enrollment requirements, they must request that their high school submit their final transcript, including date of graduation, to the Office of Admissions by July 1.
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT
Our goal is your success at the University of Minnesota. Because strong academic preparation through the senior year of high school enhances the likelihood of student’s academic success, it is the policy of the University of Minnesota that students must meet the following conditions before they are eligible to enroll:
1. Graduate from high school or pass the GED (or the equivalent) before fall semester begins.
2. Successfullycompletethecourseslistedontheir applications as “to be completed during the senior year.”
3. SubmitanofficialACT,SATand/orEnglish Proficiency test score*
*This requirement is only for students who self-reported an ACT, SAT or English proficiency test as part of their application. Official test scores must be received from the testing agency by July 1.
 An AZ hold will be placed on your student account if you have not yet met our English proficiency requirements. For more information, visit English Proficiency Information at z.umn.edu/englishreq.
There are a few options to have the AZ hold cleared:
• Enroll in one or two English language courses in your major area of study during your first year, in addition to academic courses. At orientation, your academic advisor will assist you with selecting English language courses.
• Take an English proficiency test administered by the University’s Minnesota English Language Program (MELP) upon arrival to campus.
Depending on your results, you may be required to take one or two English language courses in your major area of study during your first year, in addition to academic courses. Contact MELP at esl@umn.edu for more information.
• Take another English proficiency test and submit an official score report. Both the total score
and writing subscore must meet or exceed the minimum required scores.
  INTERNATIONAL OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS REQUIREMENT
For examples of official documents and submission instructions please visit z.umn.edu/officialdocs.
• All documents not issued in English must be in the original language and include a certified, true (word-for-word) English translation.
• Official documents are those that are original or
are attested copies of original academic documents mailed in a sealed, stamped school envelope directly from the secondary school or examining board.
• A scanned or electronic copy of an official document is considered unofficial.
• Official and complete academic records and proof of high school graduation may include exam results such as, but not limited to, IB, IGCSE, O/AS/A-level, WAEC, HKDSE, SPM, and CISCE/CBSE.
