Unless you have received a Global Excellence Scholarship or an ISSS need-based scholarship, as an international
student at the University of Minnesota, you are expected to take full responsibility for financing your education.
International students must prove they have sufficient funds available to pay their educational and personal expenses.
* Some programs and colleges have additional mandatory fees and/or tuition surcharges. Additional fees and surcharges ($2,720)
for CSOM and CSE students are not included here.
•
In order to issue an I-20, which is needed to obtain an F-1 student visa, the U of M is required by the U.S. government to
maintain records that demonstrate international students have the funds necessary to cover their tuition, fees, and living
expenses for their first year of study. For visa application purposes, this chart includes one full academic year (2 semesters)
of tuition, and international student fees, in addition to living expenses for 12 months and mandatory health insurance.
•
Students graduating from a Minnesota high school who have an H-4 visa may be eligible to pay MN resident tuition rates.
