STUDENT SPEAKER
Riley Boedigheimer was born in the Twin Cities area and graduated from Anoka High School in 2016. His love for rock climbing and skiing, paired with his appreciation for nature, led him to enroll
at the University of Minnesota Duluth, where he completed his freshman year majoring in business. In the first two weeks of his sophomore year at Duluth, Riley’s father was diagnosed with grade
IV glioblastoma, a malignant and terminal brain cancer. This tragedy brought Riley home: in the spring of 2018, Riley transferred to the
U of M Twin Cities with an initial focus in Health Services Management. Riley’s father passed away in December 2018. In his father’s memory, Riley determined to complete his education within four years, even with the challenge of having one less semester to
do so, all the while working part-time. Wanting to tailor his degree more closely to his personality, interests, and goals, he developed his own degree through the Inter-College Program, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Applied Business, Product Design, and Global Studies. After graduation Riley plans to pursue numerous personal and professional goals that are connected to his interests in business, product innovation, international relations, as well as philanthropy, and possibly, politics.
