In Memoriam
Eugene “Gene” Brumm (ChE ’65) passed away on May 27, 2022. He spent his career at General Mills. Most recently he earned his pilot’s license and enjoyed singing in the Wooddale Choir. Gene and his wife of 57 years, Sharon, established an endowed CEMS scholarship in 2018.
Paul Chapman (PhD ChE ’73) passed away on January 19, 2022. He was instrumental in starting the UMN soccer program during his time at the University.
Roger Frommelt (ChE ’59, JD ’65) passed away on April 16, 2022. Roger met Carole, his loving wife of 62 wonderful years, at the U of M. His career spanned both private and public sectors, ultimately forming his own law firm with partner David Eide where he earned a reputation as a keen securities attorney. Roger and Carole also took time to pursue many philanthropic passions including extensive efforts on behalf of the Salvation Army, and the U of M, establishing the Frommelt Family Scholarship to support chemical engineering students with financial need.
Martin P. Kloet (MetEng ’49) passed away on February 16, 2022. His career at Caterpillar took the family to Brussels, Belgium for five years, and he held several senior positions at Caterpillar, most notably in quality control.
Former CEMS staff member, Marsha Lynne “Peggy” Riebe, passed away on May 14, 2022. She graduated valedictorian from Central High School in Minneapolis. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, she dedicated her professional life to the University, creating lifelong friends and inspiring those around her. Peggy loved reading books, discovering new recipes to share, spending time at her cabin and attending as many days as possible at the Minnesota State Fair. Above all, Peggy always lived with a song in her heart, and shared every beat with the family that lovingly surrounded her.
Stanley J. Yeshe, Jr. (ChE ’70, DDS ’77) passed away on December 23, 2021. He worked at General Mills before returning to the University of Minnesota for Dental School. He later bought a dental practice in Ellsworth, Wis. and worked there for over 20 years.

You are invited to a continental breakfast on the plaza of Amundson Hall (9:00 to 10:30 a.m.) and the Homecoming Gopher football
game (11:00 a.m.) versus the Purdue University Boilermakers on Saturday, October 1.
Cost is $75 per person (face value of the football ticket alone is $100) and includes CEMS mittens, continental breakfast and game ticket in the CEMS section.
