   A NOTE FROM
DEAN BUHR
STUDENTS WORK WITH FISH IN THEIR 'FIELD METHODS IN RESEARCH AND CONSERVATION OF VERTEBRATE POPULATIONS' COURSE.
Warm wishes to you from CFANS! I’m delighted
to introduce Impact, a new quarterly publication designed to keep you informed of the many ways we’re employing science and research to meet the world’s grand challenges and develop our students, the leaders of tomorrow.
Each issue will share stories of students, faculty, researchers, alumni and others who are truly making an impact through advancing the CFANS mission of inspiring minds, nourishing people, and enhancing the natural environment — in Minnesota and worldwide.
Today’s content includes stories of CFANS' innovation, adaptability and commitment to community in this time of COVID-19 — in addition to stories about using big data to help smallholder farmers; amazing insects; and alumni whose CFANS experiences are accelerating science and discovery in creatures from cows to owls — and more.
I hope you enjoy reading about the impact that CFANS, with your support, is making in the world. You can find more information online at cfans.umn.edu.
Thank you, and please take care and be well. Sincerely,
Brian Buhr
