Follow-up after a face-to-face meeting
PROFESSIONAL CORRESPONDENCE
 Follow-Up Correspondence
A key component to every effective job search is follow-up.
This could take place after an interview, informational interview, introduction or referral, or subsequent outreach after your initial contact with someone. Follow-up can occur via email or phone, although email has quickly become the preferred method of communication for most professionals.
The purpose of sending a follow-up email is to get the person to take action or for you to respond to a request made
by a potential employer. This is also an important part of demonstrating your commitment to them and to their company.

ADDITIONAL TIP
  • When sending a follow-up email, be sure to include/attach a copy of your original email for reference.
• If you are responding to a request made by an employer, make sure you reference the request in your email and include all of the information requested.
• A follow-up phone call may be useful if the person does not respond to your initial email, as well as one additional follow-up email.
  Dear Ms. Blakely:
Thank you for taking the time to speak with me concerning your organization and role at Lipkar and Seleskie, Inc. I was excited to hear about some of the recent initiatives that you and your team are working on, and I was also excited to hear about possible internship opportunities at your firm this summer. As you requested, I have enclosed my resume for your reference.
Although you may not have an immediate need for a Business Analyst, I would love to be kept in mind should your hiring needs change in the future. As I mentioned over the phone, I have had a number of experiences while attending the Carlson School that I feel will be an asset
to your organization, and have also completed several informational interviews with employees at your firm in the past year.
I will follow up with you in a few weeks to let you know how my internship search has progressed, and follow up on the few next steps you recommended. I appreciate your time and consideration and look forward to connecting again at a later date.
Sincerely,
Ray Smith
