Carrying on a legacy
Hayley Mathie, DDS ’22, did not have the dental school experience she expected. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit halfway through her studies, it impacted every part of her life.
“There were so many unknown costs and variables in my life,” she recalled. But that time reinforced the choice she had made to attend the School of Dentistry—and her gratitude for donor funds.
Mathie knew the community at the School of Dentistry was right for her as soon as she attended her interview. “Everyone was so supportive,” she recalled. “I knew there would be a home for me here.”

Create a brighter future for next-generation leaders
“To be selected for a scholarship made me feel like the work I had done was exceptional—and helped with any uncertainty about where to come to school. Most people in my class will graduate with three to four hundred thousand dollars of debt. I was one of the lucky ones, but there is a class full of students who are just as qualified as I am.”
