We also offer an advanced education programs in TMD and orofacial pain, oral biology, dental hygiene and oral health for older adults.
Whatever your future in oral health looks like, it starts here.
   Dental Hygiene
Established in 1919, the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry’s Division of Dental Hygiene is committed to excellence in dental hygiene education, practice, public health, management and research. The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
We are preparing the next generation of dental hygienists to assume roles in various environments, including general and specialty practices, public schools, community health clinics, insurance companies, educational programs, extended care facilities and the health products industry. We do this by providing a competency-based education program and evidence-based dental hygiene care.
One program, Two degrees
The Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene program at the University of Minnesota is the only baccalaureate program affiliated with a school
of dentistry in the state. As a dental hygiene student, you will study alongside dental and dental therapy students in a team-based setting to deliver comprehensive care to patients.
Our accelerated dental hygiene program enables students to earn their Bachelor of Science degree in three years.
When you graduate, you will be ready to work in a dental practice, school programs, state facilities, private practices or as a patient advocate. You will also be prepared to pursue advanced education.
Master of Science in Dental Hygiene
A Master of Science in Dental Hygiene prepares you for research, healthcare and academia. You will choose from two paths: education to prepare for a future in professional academic or research positions, or management to become a leader who coordinates operations, responds to an ever- changing market, influences consumer decision making, and implements strategies.
