Timing is everything. Just days before COVID-19 shut down schools and groups gathering, every sixth grader in Austin toured The Hormel Institute and saw scientists in action. In the following months, with students remotely learning, The Hormel Institute’s research section leaders produced teaching videos about scientific topics to share with teachers of kindergarten through high school. We knew teaching remotely and virtually would be a challenge and wanted to continue to inspire the love of, respect for and interest in science and education and medical/ research careers.
