   Current research projects:
1. Human ABCA family transporters and their
role in age in Alzheimer’s Disease Pathogene- sis (This project is currently funded by an NIH National Institute on Aging R21 grant (PI: Alam) and other age-related illnesses.
2. Mechanistic insight into P-glycoprotein/ABCB1/ MDR1 mediated drug-drug interactions, drug pharmacokinetics, and multidrug resistance.
3. Structural basis for ABCD1 mediated very long chain fatty acid (VLCFA) transport and its role in X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy.
4. Development of Nanobody binders against ABCB1 and ABCA7 (collaborative)
5. Understanding mechanisms of peroxisomal membrane protein insertion
6. Understanding mechanisms of peroxisomal matrix protein import
