In additional to ABC transporters, the Alam lab also has several projects on structure-function studies of members of the Solute Carrier (SLC) superfamily and Transmembrane (TMEM) family transporters both as part of ongoing projects and new collaborative effort. In addition to structure-function studies, the Alam lab also dedicates part of its resources towards the dis- covery of small molecule and antibody-based binders for target proteins that can aid in our high-resolution structural studies and have the potential development into diagnostic and therapeutic tools. In addition to the PI, the Alam lab currently includes 2 postdocs, both of whom were independently awarded the Eagles telethon postdoctoral fellowships in 2020
and 2022, and one Researcher 1 and is actively looking to expand.

Conformational Landscape of human ABCA7 (A) and model for lipid translocation (B)
Structures of human ABCB1 in complex with third generation inhibitors zosuquidar (left) and tariquidar (right). EM density for the inhibitors
is shown as purple and green surfaces for zosuquidar and tariquidar, respectively.
