Minda Anderson, MA HRM / Manager
The Human Resources Department supports
employees through the entire job life cycle,
administers benefits, facilitates training, and
formulates policies to ensure a safe and
productive work environment. Over the past
year, we implemented a more streamlined and
consistent interview process and created the
Safety of Minors Policy to bring minors on site
for educational events. Our current focus is on
recruitment, with the goal of adding more women
and underrepresented minorities in science to our faculty and staff.
Research Development

The Research Development Department partners with researchers to reduce administrative burden so they can focus on conducting research and writing the research sections of their grant proposals. We implemented
new systems to improve our grant
applications, participated in training to
allow us to expand our knowledge and
network with other grant professionals, and expanded our collaborations with the University of Minnesota Rochester. We look forward to continuing our mission of promoting a culture of research excellence and bringing extramural research funding to The Hormel Institute.
Immigration and Intercultural Engagement

The Immigration and Intercultural Engagement Department not only assists employees with the visa process, but
works to strengthen The Hormel Institute’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). This year, we implemented a research- based online program to support intercultural leadership development. We also partnered
with Interculturalist, LLC, a human resources consulting firm, to gain knowledge and tools to enhance institutional intercultural capacity. We look forward to
the upcoming year and the opportunity to continue to instill a welcoming, collaborative, progressive, and healthy environment for all employees.

Research Facilities

The Research Facilities Department works around the clock to ensure the building and grounds are safe, clean, and functional for all of our employees and visitors. This year was a busy one in our department, as we prepared the facility for our 80th Anniversary celebrations, along with numerous other events.
