Over the past fiscal year, our lab has made significant strides in demonstrating our impact both within the scientific commu-
nity and among our local communities.
Our research focuses on two primary areas: bacterial transcription and the structural and mechanistic study of viral proteins. During this period, we have achieved notable productivity, publishing nine papers in esteemed journals, including Nature. Our research accomplishments have also led to a patent application for nano- bodies targeting SARS-CoV-2.
Our efforts to expand our impact have been fruitful. We secured additional funding from the Eagles Fellowship and our U19 grant, enhancing our research capabilities. We have effectively communicated our findings by presenting our
work orally at the MC2 meeting and The Hormel Institute Symposium and showcasing it through posters at several national professional confer- ences.
My expertise and achievements have earned me invitations to serve as a committee member for the national CryoEM center (NCCAT) and as a reviewer for leading journals such as Molecular Cell and Nature Structural & Molecular Biology.
To further our engagement with local communi- ties, our lab has been actively involved in educational initiatives, including the Young Scientist Program and the BioDiscovery Internship Program with Austin Public Schools, the SURE Internship, and STEP Undergraduate Programs in collaboration with the University of Minnesota, Rochester campus.
