FRASER FELLOWS FOLLOW THEIR
PASSION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS
For the past seven years, University of Minnesota undergraduate students
have been gaining invaluable hands-on experience in the field of human
rights advocacy, all thanks to the Fraser Fellowships. Named after Don and
Arvonne Fraser, two trailblazing advocates of human rights and women’s
rights, these fellowships allow two selected students to work closely with
leading human rights organizations in the Twin Cities over the summer.
As the summer 2024 Don Fraser Fellow, Manushri Ivaturi (CLA ’25), a
senior majoring in Political Science and English, worked for the International
Justice Program at The Advocates for Human Rights. Ivaturi’s
responsibilities included looking into countries’ human rights conditions and
researching and drafting reports for submission to the United Nations. As
the Arvonne Fraser Fellow, Isabella Minahan (CLA ’25), a senior majoring in
Spanish Studies and Global Studies with a concentration in Human Rights
and Justice, interned with Global Rights for Women (GRW). Minahan
primarily worked with the Development and Communications team,
spending her days helping with research, creating social media and website
content, writing grant proposals, and planning events. Through these
internships, the students gained invaluable hands-on experience and skills
to launch their careers as human rights advocates.
Congratulations to the Summer 2025 Fraser Fellows, Libby Nemitz (CLA
’26) and Dante Rocío (CLA ’26), who are interning at the The Advocates for
Human Rights. We look foward to following their journeys!
