MEET THE LEADERSHIP TEAM
CARRIE BOOTH WALLING, PHD
Director, Human Rights Program
Director of Graduate Studies, Human Rights Minor, College of Liberal Arts
“Human rights are always worth protecting. We are better off in
communities where the rights of all individuals and groups are
protected, and where people can live authentic, dignified, and
joyful lives. With 24 years of experience, HRP is prepared to
lead through this challenging period of human rights reversals.”
-Carrie Booth Walling
AMELIA SHINDELAR, MA
Manager, Human Rights Initiative
“Human Rights Matter. The research we conduct and the
education we provide carries unprecedented urgency in our
contemporary moment. Through this work, we help protect the
safety, dignity, and well-being of individuals and communities
around the world. In a year marked by persistent challenges to
human rights, I find my greatest source of hope and motivation
in our Master of Human Rights students who are dedicating
themselves to advancing the human rights movement.”
-Amelia Shindelar
MADELINE CHRISTENSEN, MA
Assistant Director, Human Rights Program
“I am continually inspired by our students and their
commitment to a wide range of human rights issues- from
worker’s rights, to environmental justice, to international human
rights advocacy. Their energy and passion fuel our work. Our
students are already making change on campus and in our
community. It is a privilege to work with so many talented and
enthusiastic people, from our degree programs, to our events, to
our collaborative research projects with community partners.
We will continue to do our work as we walk towards a vision of
a brighter future- for people, communities, and the planet.”
-Madeline Christensen
