MCKNIGHT TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS IN NEUROSCIENCE AWARD
Kodandaramaiah’s project uses robotic systems to enable more robust tracking of brain activity in freely moving animals, allowing the use of larger, more powerful, higher resolution monitoring systems. The project demonstrates the ability to fundamentally change neuroscience research, advancing the development of groundbreaking technologies to map, monitor, and model brain function.

LEGISLATIVE-CITIZEN COMMISSION ON MINNESOTA RESOURCES
Wright is developing a cost- and energy-efficient method of managing concentrated, salt-laden waste from municipal water treatment plants. This new method will increase the economic feasibility of using reverse osmosis for centralized water softening and treatment, substantially reducing the presence of salt and other contaminants in Minnesota waterways.

DEFENSE ADVANCED RESEARCH PROJECTS AGENCY (DARPA) YOUNG FACULTY AWARD This prestigious award identifies rising stars who will focus a significant portion of their career on Department of Defense and National Security issues. Yang’s team will receive more than $980,000 over the course of three years for his project, “Hypersonic Sonic Boom Theory Based on Line-Distributed Energy Impulse Source: Lift, Shape, and Thermochemistry.”
