2020 OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD WINNERS
Erin Osborne
Central Minnesota Legal Services
Direct Legal Service Award
Erin Osborne is a staff attorney at Central Minnesota Legal Services.
Erin practices in the areas of domestic violence, orders for protection, harassment restraining orders, family law, and housing. In 2019, Erin became the Project Coordinator of Central Minnesota Legal Services’ partnership with the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, providing on-site advice and consultation to individuals seeking protective orders at the Domestic Abuse Service Center. Prior to that partnership, Erin provided on-site advice and representation at the Family Justice Center to individuals seeking protective orders on the day of their initial hearings.
Erin is currently a member of the management team of the Justice for Families Grant in Hennepin County and a member of the Access to Justice committee. She was previously involved in the Family Court Enhancement Project as a member of the management team and co-chair of a committee working towards increasing access to counsel. Both projects are comprised of various community stakeholders invested in improving Court responses to family violence.
Erin has led trainings for domestic violence advocates to improve advocacy understanding of the intersection between child custody and Orders for Protection. She also trains volunteer attorneys on the basics of Orders for Protection through Minnesota CLE. She does community outreach trainings on housing rights under the Violence Against Women Act and Orders for Protection.
Prior to joining Central Minnesota Legal Services, Erin was a law clerk for the Honorable Karen A. Janisch in Hennepin County District Court. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. Erin completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Minnesota and is a proud alum of the University of Minnesota Marching Band. In her free time, she hikes with her husband Chris and their dog Coach.
