Marisa Tillman
University of Minnesota Law School
Law Student Award Winner
Marisa Tillman is in the fourth and final year of her dual degree program at the University of Minnesota, getting a JD at the UMN Law School
and an MPP at the UMN Humphrey School of Public Affairs. She hopes to use both degrees to serve, advocate for, and support immigrants coming to the United States and those currently in the country. In law school, she has acted as the Treasurer (’18-’19) and Co-President (’19-’20) of the MJF University of Minnesota Student Chapter, Director (’18-’19) and Producer (’20-’21) of the Theatre of the Relatively Talentless, the AILA Student Liaison to the University of Minnesota Law School, and has participated in the Asylum Law Project. Before law school, she worked as a legal assistant for the World Relief Baltimore Immigration Legal Clinic through the Lutheran Volunteer Corps. Marisa grew up in the Philippines before attending Bethel University, where she graduated with degrees in International Relations and Sociology. In her free time, Marisa loves to read, play volleyball, watch and participate
in musical theater, and go camping, especially in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.
