2021 OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD WINNERS
 California and joined the team at PATH, a statewide housing and homeless services nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness for individuals, families, and communities in California. While becoming the Associate Director of Community Engagement & Public Policy at PATH, Brigid learned from and worked with mission-driven advocates committed to embracing, sharing, and expanding access to best practices in homeless services and affordable housing.
Brigid decided to pursue law school after seeing the integral role legal services and advocacy can play in ending homelessness and increasing resource accessibility more broadly for communities experiencing hardship. While at Minnesota Law, Brigid has participated in the Asylum Law Project and worked as a legal intern with Inner City Law Center’s Lawyers Preventing and Ending Homelessness Project. Brigid currently serves as a Student Director for the Community Legal Partnership for Health Law Clinic, as the Lead Managing Editor for the Minnesota Journal of Law & Inequality, and as a 3L Law Council Representative. Brigid is also thrilled to continue her work as a Law Clerk with Housing Justice Center this fall after an impactful summer learning from the passionate team at HJC.
Samantha Prins

Law Student Award Winner
Sam Prins is a third-year law student at University of St. Thomas
School of Law. During law school, she worked for Medtronic in Global Investigations within the Ethics and Compliance Office and at Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services in the Elder Law division. Sam enjoys advocating for her clients and appreciates the opportunity to work with and learn from her direct supervisor, Laura Orr at SMRLS. Laura’s passion for justice and serving her clients was instrumental in Sam’s legal development and has solidified Sam’s pursuit of public interest work.
In law school, Sam works as a Research Assistant and serves as the Notes and Comments Editor for the St. Thomas Law Journal. She also participated in a year-long clinic assisting clients with writing Federal Commutation and Pardon petitions. Prior to law school, Sam worked for the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office in consumer protection and investigations. Sam grew up in the Twin Cities and graduated from Bethel University with a double major in Spanish and International Business. In her free time, Sam enjoys long-distance hiking, reading, and staying active.
