Bowers Fluid Mechanics Laboratory
The main laboratory includes horizontal pipe columns with
in-line suction pumps and digital air flow meters; sluice gate apparatus; free jet water flow devices with calibrated volume collection systems, volumetric flow rate, and jet counterbalances; visualization flow channels; oil pipe friction apparatus; and a water friction apparatus.
    Rock Mechanics Laboratory
This lab features four MTS, closed-loop, servo-controlled load frames equipped with load cells, displacement measurements of stroke, and clip-gage type strain transducers for control into the post-peak region. A patented UMN plane strain apparatus with pore pressure and multi-axial loading capabilities highlights the lab.
  Heuer Soil Mechanics Laboratory
Notable equipment includes a tabletop load frame for triaxial compression testing, direct shear apparatus, and pneumatic consolidometers. The lab also includes a quicksand demonstration tank, strain-controlled unconfined compression devices, constant head permeameters, standard and modified Proctor tests, index testing, sieves with mechanical shakers, digital scales, and a drying oven.
