by calls from industry and by the exciting potential of machine learning to be a powerful tool for research and discovery. It has also been launched in partnership with generous donations for fellowship support. Our first cohort of nine students will be the seed of a larger and robust Masters program in the years ahead.
As I enter my tenth year as CEMS Department Head, I am truly grateful that I continue to work every day with such exceptional people – faculty, staff, students, postdocs, and you, our alumni. It is the people associated with CEMS that make it great. Thank you for your support of the department; we in CEMS are looking forward to the new opportunities and challenges of Academic Year 2023-24.

Call for CEMS alumni volunteers!
We are building a network of alumni volunteers to aid CEMS students in the following ways:
• Serving on in-person and/or virtual panels to describe and share the work you are doing with your degree
• Providing a testimonial about your experience in the Department
• Assisting with senior design course (materials science)
• Providing guest lectures for undergraduate courses
