                             GIVING MATTERS
Unmatched generosity in an unprecedented year
For academic year 2020-21, CEMS awarded $275,910 in scholarships to 95 students, the largest total amount given in department history. A few highlights:
• Average scholarship amount: $2,844
• 100% of high-need students (based on FAFSA) were awarded scholarships
• $19,555 raised by CEMS donors on “Give to the Next” Day. With a $5,000 match, $24,555 total was raised and 12 new scholarships were immediately awarded
Audrey Fredrickson, a recipient of the CEMS “Give to the Next” Scholarship, remarked, “I am profoundly grateful for your generosity. Especially during a pandemic, financially supporting myself through school has proven to be difficult. This scholarship takes some of that weight off my shoulders and allows me to really delve into my academics.
I have had a lab assistant job on campus working in a Pediatric Nephrology Lab, which has allowed me to see how some of the things that I’m learning contribute to research and medical applications.
I am excited at the prospect of getting more involved in student groups on campus
as well, since I will not have to work as much to be able to finance my tuition. My sincere thanks to you for supporting “Give to the Next” Day!”
