ANJEL CHAVEZ
Class of 2021
Anjel Chavez has been a part of the soil judging team for three years. She joined in Fall 2019 and traveled with the team to Florida in January 2020 right before the pandemic. Anjel has competed at two regional competitions (one virtual and one in person) and one virtual national competition. This semester, Anjel led the team as a co-captain to a regional victory and placed 7th in the individual judging at the competition. Her favorite experience with the team was finally getting to enjoy an in-person competition in Crookston, MN. Anjel is a strong competitor and loves to work with her team in the pits. Her favorite soil texture is Silty Clay Loam because of its puffiness.
Anjel graduated in December 2021 with a degree in Forest and Natural Resource Management with a focus on Forest Ecosystem Management and Conservation. Outside of Soil Judging, Anjel works on graduate research in the Forestry Department on collecting data from tree ring analysis. Her hobbies include keeping her tree ID abilities sharp and enjoying the outdoors. She began work with SavATree as a plant healthcare specialist in January 2022.
