VMock Student Guide
VMock is a tool the GBCC provides for you to have your resume reviewed virtually. It provides customized feedback on formatting, grammar, and impact. We encourage you to use this before meeting with a coach for a resume review appointment.
Sign Up
1 Go to www.vmock.com/carlson
2 Enter your UMN email address and click
‘Complete Registration’
3 Set your password and click ‘Sign Up’
4 You will then be asked to confirm your email-id
5 Click the ‘Verify Account’ button in the email sent to you
Get Started
1 From you dashboard, click ‘Upload Resume’ and upload in PDF format.
2 The system will then process your resume and present you with a summary of resume analysis and feedback. Click on the blue ‘View Feedback’ button to see the detailed feedback.
3 There is a detailed product walk-through embedded in the system, so please make sure you spend some time to understand the different modules/features.
Best Practices
• Make sure your resume is in the Carlson Format (using Times New Roman font) before uploading to VMock
• Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox are the suggested browsers for best user experience
• For Macbook users or anyone having difficulty converting your document to a pdf, VMock recommends using www.pdfonline. com/convert-pdf
FAQs
How many resume uploads do I get? Each student is allowed 10 uploads per year. We recommend making as many changes as possible before each upload.
How is my resume benchmarked? VMock’s algorithm is consistent across all schools, but individual school best practices and historical uploads are built into the customization.
How high of a score is considered a “good” score? To attain a “good” score, your aim should be to reach the green-zone and strive for an improved score after incorporating
system feedback.
