Please accept my application for the Summer Associate’s role within Deloitte Consulting’s Strategy and Operations team. As I have interacted with former interns and current employees from Deloitte Consulting, I have been pleased to learn of the close fit between what you are looking for and my background. In particular, I learned that Deloitte looks for candidates who can work well on teams and who are “client ready,” as well as candidates who are passionate problem solvers with exceptionally strong research and analytical skills. I believe I would bring you all of these skills along with a passion to serve a variety of clients from across the country and even across the globe.
Each of my conversations with employees from Deloitte has emphasized that S&O consultants must be able to move from strong analysis to building good solutions to making good recommendations to senior management.
I demonstrated my ability to develop persuasive, data-based solutions when I worked for H.B.Fuller in corporate development. Here I was charged with building a proposal for entering a new regional market with one of our two primary product lines. After compiling data from existing markets on sales from each product line and modeling potential customer’s buying behavior in the new market, I recommended to senior management that we enter the market with one of the two products. My recommendations were implemented, and the launch has reached first- year sales targets after only three quarters.
In addition to strong problem solving skills, Deloitte consultants must also have very strong team and client skills. I have had the chance to work with internal stakeholders at H.B Fuller as part of a six-person, global team tasked with making a recommendation to our senior product design team on new product specifications. This team, with members located across China and India, analyzed and presented the “voice of the customer” to the design team as they decided on the formulation of our new industrial products. Our team was able to balance the desires of our customers in widely differing geographies with the capabilities of our engineers to propose five specific product modifications, three of which were ultimately approved and implemented.
I am excited to take the strong problem-solving, team, and client experiences I have had with H.B. Fuller, combined with the deep problem-solving experience I will gain as part of the Carlson Consulting Enterprise, to add value to the fast-paced, high expectation world of Deloitte Consulting.
