TalentLink
TalentLink (continued) Company and Contact Search:
Looking to connect with someone at a specific organization? Log into TalentLink and click on the Organization Research tab. From here, you’ll enter in the company name and the system will generate a list of all contacts that are linked to that organization. Contact information for each individual is also listed.
Reporting an Offer:
This is important for collecting employment information and tracking student success. All information is kept confidential and reported in aggregate for rankings and for helping students negotiate future job offers.
On-Campus Interview Policies
In an effort to ensure strong relationships between the Carlson School and our valued employers, as well as fair access to on-campus recruiting opportunities for all students, the following policies and procedures are strictly enforced.
“No-Show” for an Interview
If you fail to show up for a scheduled on-campus interview without notifying the GBCC and the company, or after notifying the GBCC without an acceptable excuse (see below), your access to on-campus recruiting, TalentLink, and other GBCC resources will be revoked until you:
1 Meet with a GBCC career coach, and
2 Send a letter of apology to the company (and “cc”
gbccinfo@umn.edu)
Only once these steps are completed and a GBCC career coach recommends reinstatement will you regain full access to TalentLink and be able to resume on-campus interviewing. If you do not show up for a subsequent interview, you will permanently lose access to the GBCC systems and resources.
Acceptable excuses include serious illness, accidents, and other emergencies, as long as the GBCC is notified in advance of the actual interview. If you cancel the day of your interview because you have accepted another offer, you are still required to send a letter to the employer, and copy gbccinfo@umn.edu, apologizing for the late notice.
For first-year students or other graduate students who are not graduating until the following year (or later), your access to TalentLink will remain revoked for the following year unless you complete the steps above.
Canceling Interviews
If you become aware that you will not be able to attend a scheduled on-campus interview, please follow these steps:
If more than 48 hours prior to your interview:
1 Call the recruiter and follow-up with an e-mail and “cc” gbccinfo@umn.edu
2 Log onto TalentLink to cancel your interview, following these steps:
• Go to the On-Campus Interviews tab and select My On- Campus Interviews.
• From the list of interviews, click Cancel under the Action column.
• Click the Cancel Interview button on the visit page and confirm by clicking OK in the pop-up window.
If less than 48 hours prior to your interview:
Call the GBCC front desk at 612-624-0011 to inform them of your situation. You must also email the company’s recruiting contact and copy gbccinfo@umn.edu. The GBCC will remove you from the schedule. As long as you cancel prior to the day of your interview, you will not be considered a “no show.”
   Interviewing After Acceptance
It is not acceptable to continue to attend job interviews after accepting another offer for many reasons including:
• You are misrepresenting yourself to the employer.
• You are keeping another Carlson School student from the opportunity to interview.
• You risk causing serious harm to your individual reputation as well as the school’s reputation.
If you have accepted an offer, please record it as accepted in TalentLink. If you are on an upcoming schedule, please follow the above procedures for canceling any upcoming interviews as soon as possible. If the GBCC administration becomes aware that you are interviewing after you have accepted an offer, your access to TalentLink and other GBCC resources will be revoked, and you will be required to meet with the director of the GBCC to discuss
further action.
