 WELCOME FROM THE CHANCELLOR
I am excited that you’ve chosen the University of Minnesota Duluth for your college journey!
As UMD’s new chancellor, I’m just starting here too. I am confident that both of us have made a great decision to
join this remarkable community. I’m inspired by the work happening across campus and in our surrounding region. As a new student, you will have a chance to be a part of our mission of excellence in teaching, research, and outreach.
The orientation program will provide you with tools and experiences to help ensure a successful start at UMD. Your orientation leader will guide you through presentations and activities designed to introduce you to fellow Bulldogs and campus resources and facilities. You will also connect with an academic advisor for assistance with choosing and registering for your fall classes.
I trust that your orientation experience will help you uncover how UMD is here to support your success. This is an exciting time! You’ve started a fulfilling journey that will provide you with a lifetime of skills and knowledge, and friendships and connections that I hope will last just as long.
Congratulations, welcome, and go Bulldogs!
Charles Nies, PhD Chancellor
