Incoming clinical learners participated in teambuilding activities and even met Goldy Gopher during their orientation.
White Coats were donned for the 134 new learners in the DDS, Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy programs on September 9. The ceremony highlighted learners’ entry into the profession and encouraged new students to reflect
upon the great responsibility that comes with being an oral health professional. Keynote speaker and Alumni Society President Shivan Nelson, DDS ’11, encouraged learners to seek out mentors, remember the people attached to each mouth and know that they cannot pour from an empty cup. “Your white coat will come off at the end of the day, but the weight of this responsibility will not,” she said. “Let the oaths you take today serve as guideposts for how you approach your education and your career to follow.”
