   Clinical Education
A key feature of a School of Dentistry education is hands-on learning in our Moos Tower clinics, three University of Minnesota Clinics and fifteen community- based clinics throughout Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.
After rigorous biological science and pre-clinical training, DDS students enter the clinics in their third year. Dental hygiene and dental therapy students start clinical experiences as early as their second semester in the program.
 3M Simulation Clinic
Dental students learn in the 3M Foundation Dental Simulation Clinic, a facility designed to create a realistic clinic environment. It helps the students learn the eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity skills, techniques and procedures they will use to treat patients by practicing restorative procedures on simulated patients. Each workstation is equipped with a lifelike mannequin, complete with a head, shoulders
and realistic oral cavity—flexible jaws, lips and cheeks, and a full complement of teeth.
Moos Tower Clinics
Comprehensive Care Clinics
Each year, School of Dentistry students provide care to more than 100,000 patients in on-site clinics. They provide general dental and dental hygiene services, as well as pediatric and geriatric dental services on four floors of dental clinics and surgical suites. Dental students supervised by faculty treat adults and children in need of general dentistry care. As students, you will be divided into color groups, or teams of fellow students working under the supervision of a faculty member to provide excellent care to your patients.
