POSTDOCTORAL TRAINING
POSTDOCTORAL TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES
In November 2023, we launched the Postdoctoral Development Program, led by Dr. Rebecca Morris and Research Development Director, Jessica Raines-Jones. Dr. Eric Rahrmann recently joined the program’s committee, offering valuable insights from his postdoctoral experience and recent transition to faculty at HI.
A unique benefit of a postdoc position at the Institute is the opportunity to work in a world-class facility in a smaller, more focused setting. This creates an environ- ment conducive to scientific exploration while offering the support and resources typically found at larger institutions.
The primary goal of the program is to provide early-career scientists with the skills, resources, and experiences essential for successful careers in academia and beyond. Training at HI goes beyond technical expertise, incorporating mentorship from senior researchers and peers, career development workshops, and oppor-
tunities to present research at national and international conferences. Monthly meetings cover a wide range of topics, from research ethics to effective grant writing. Postdocs are also encouraged to take on leadership roles within the program, co-organize meetings, and contribute to initiatives like the After Work Club or the monthly data presentation club. There is a strong emphasis on collaboration within a close-knit, interdisciplinary research community. Postdocs are fully immersed in an environment that fosters teamwork within the Institute.
Our commitment to postdoctoral career advance- ment ensures that every trainee leaves with a robust professional network and a competitive edge in the job market.
