     STEM EDUCATION
This engaging exercise not only introduced students to the world of biomedical research but also encouraged problem-solving and critical thinking skills. The program offered a unique opportunity for young learners to experience real-world applications of science, fostering early interest in medical and research fields.
SCIENCE SATURDAYS
In partnership with the Austin Public Library, these Science Saturday programs provided families with an engaging science experience. Families picked up free activity kits that included supplies and instructions for conducting science experi- ments at home. The program also featured in-person activities where participants had the unique opportunity to meet real researchers. This interaction enriched the science learning experience, allowing families to engage directly with experts while fostering curiosity and hands-on learning beyond the classroom.
 DISCOVER SCIENCE TOGETHER
In June, we hosted the annual Discover Science Together Day, a free community event that engages families in science learning through hands-on experiences and activities. These efforts helped create an engaging environment where families could explore scientific concepts together, fostering a deeper appreciation for science within the community—and across generations.
This year’s event was made possible through partnerships with a range of local and state organizations, including the Masonic Cancer Center, Mayo Clinic Health Sys- tems, Mower County Public Health, Hometown Food Security Project, and MNGi.
MEDICAL DETECTIVES
In partnership with Austin Public Schools, the Medical Detectives program for 6th-grade students, provides an immersive educational experience in biomedical science. This year, students were assigned characters and scenarios in a simu- lated “mystery” challenge, where they navigated a series of activities designed to identify diseases and pinpoint their origins.
