ON THE COVER: Energy Transition
Mechanical engineering plays a central role in exploring new
energy conversion and storage technologies for a sustainable and environmentally friendly energy future. Our department performs research on a wide spectrum of innovative energy conversion and storage solutions, working to improve the efficiency of existing technologies.
Energy transition is one of the department’s five “impact areas” — key areas we have identified as focal points for teaching and research as we work to have a positive impact on the world around us and leave it better than we found it. This newsletter highlights a portion of our efforts in this area.
