ON THE COVER: ME in the Community
Most of what we focus on as an academic department is education and research. But under the hood of both those elements of an impactful higher education center is participation in the community.
OUTREACH: What are we doing to recruit the next generation of mechanical engineers?
ENGAGEMENT: What are we doing to keep our students and alumni connected to the department?
DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION INITIATIVES: What are we doing to make sure that an engineering education is accessible to everyone who would excel in our department and is reflective of our society’s overall demographics?
As a department, we do a lot to build community — from faculty/staff socials to supporting student groups to visiting elementary schools. Learn a bit more about how our students, faculty, and alumni are contributing to and creating community in this newsletter.
