 Department Head Update
Regions Emergency Department 2021: Focus was on Health Equity, Experience, Wellness, Mission and Vision. Set on solid foundation built on patient centered care, we focused on advancing health equity and working with our community to surge matching the changing health needs of our patients.
Through a very generous grant from the Fred C. and Katherine B. Andersen Foundation we have finalized the expansion of our emergency department to include an additional four state of the art resuscitation/trauma rooms and nine treatment spaces. In addition to the new patient care space, we have added new staff to match our patient’s emergency needs.
Our faculty remain academically active in Operations, Quality, Education, EMS, and Toxicology. Our Critical Care Research Center faculty have been actively enrolling patients in resuscitation, stroke and COVID-19 treatment trials. The University of Minnesota Department of Emergency Medicine promoted Drew Zinkel, MD to Associate Professor. We are very proud of Dr. R.J. Frascone’s distinguished career. He was recognized by the Association of Air Medicine this year with the Marriott-Carlson Lifetime Achievement Award for clinical excellence for greater than 40 years pre-hospital medicine leadership.
The future remains bright. Regions Hospital Emergency Department will remain focused on health equity, patient experience, and wellness as we enter 2022.
