What brought you to Regions for your EM residency training?
“I am a Minnesota native, so I ideally wanted to stay close to home for training. I rotated at Regions for EM and toxicology and absolutely loved all
the people I interacted with. Regions is all about wellness, and I loved that!”
Now you are in Rochester working with the Mayo Emergency Medicine Residency Program. Tell us about your current role, and what you love about working in medical education?
“I am one of the Associate Program Directors for the Mayo Emergency Medicine residency. I oversee the

We welcomed 2023 with appreciation as learning opportunities and experiences began to shift back to pre-pandemic days. The Class of 2025 attended SAEM in Austin, TX in May. The Class of 2026 will be attending SAEM in Phoenix, AZ — let us know if you plan to attend!
We offered Alumni Day in-person and virtually. Featured speakers included Maggie Barnes (’20), Amy Borys (’20), Sue Cullinan (’01), Ellen Dore (’22), Clint Hawthorne (’12), Patrick Holland (’02),
Ryan Johnsen (’21), Katherine Katzung (’12), Alan Sazama (’17), Alexandria Taylor (’22), and Zlata Vlodaver (’18). We had a very good turnout with so many alumni back in-person in the auditorium. Thank you for coming!
wellness committee (see the theme, here?), journal club, resus review (which we adopted from the Regions version of this conference) and work with recruitment as well. I love seeing the excitement in a resident’s eyes when they learn something new or get to do a procedure for the first time.”
Any other fun updates from post residency life you’d like to share?
“Since residency, our family has grown with a crazy Vizsla and 2 little girls. My husband is now on staff at Mayo as an orthopedic surgeon. I am still very close with my co-residents who are some of my best friends. Shout out to RegEM class of 2019 (the best class, in my very unbiased opinion)!”
