You came to Minnesota and Regions initially for your EMS fellowship — what made you choose Regions EMS for your fellowship training?
“I knew I wanted a program that had a wide variety of EMS experiences available, as well as program faculty who were going to be my advocate for learning. I remembered my interview experience at Regions as a medical student and felt the combination of EMS experiences available as well as the great people I remembered at Regions
that it was going to be a great fit for me.”
Tell us about your passion for EMS and your current roles in EMS?
“EMS is a rewarding way to practice medicine on a larger scale than one-on-one patient interactions; we get the privilege of developing guidelines that help communities save lives and educate prehospital providers on the most up to date ways to do that. I am currently the medical director for a number of our suburban ALS services, particularly in Washington County.”
The HealthPartners ‘Off the Charts: Examining the Health Equity Emergency’ podcast is awesome! Tell us about your role with that podcast and your interest in health equity?
“The podcast is the brainchild of myself and my cohost, Dr. Steven Jackson. It was born during
the covid pandemic after the murder of George Floyd where both Dr. Jackson and I shared a vision to create a platform to provide both education
and allow others to tell their stories and share experiences. We landed on the podcast and it was supported by our organization and we worked hard to create it together. My passion for health equity
is driven by our specialty of emergency medicine, where we see the results of health inequities everyday, and wanting to try and make a difference in that space through education and storytelling.”
