 Department head update
In 2023, the Emergency Department at Regions Hospital dedicated its efforts to fostering community engagement through innovative initiatives, promoting health equity, and fostering a culture of growth and development while nurturing strong connections with the community it serves. As an integral part of
the award-winning HealthPartners integrated healthcare system, Regions Hospital benefits from extensive resources and collaborative opportunities.
Our dedicated faculty and staff continue to actively engage with our local community while maintaining a strong commitment to ongoing education for the continual improvement of our department. Notably, our nursing leadership team earned recognition for their outstanding work in ensuring our department is consistently staffed with high-quality nurses, culminating in their receipt of the Best Presentation Award at
the Innovations in Emergency Department Management Conference. Additionally, Dr. Kari Haley is taking the lead in co-hosting the acclaimed podcast, Off the Charts: Examining the Health Equity Emergency.
The contributions of Dr. Jessie Nelson, the Education Research Director and an internationally recognized figure in emergency medicine education, were acknowledged with a well-deserved promotion to
the rank of Professor by the University of Minnesota Department of Emergency Medicine.
The department is pleased to welcome two new faculty members: Dr. Haley Taormina, a fellowship trained expert in Emergency Medical Services, has played a pivotal role in driving progress and innovation in prehospital medicine. Dr. Graci Gorman completed her education fellowship in 2023 and is leading education innovation
in the department. In addition to the new faculty members, the department boasts an exceptional team of clinicians who lead in various critical areas, including emergency quality, patient safety, toxicology, emergency services, operations, sports medicine, and education.
The Emergency Department at Regions Hospital remains committed
to its mission of serving the community around the clock, 24/7/365, ensuring that high-quality, continuous, and dependable emergency care is readily available to those it serves.
