Page 6ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTAn AZ hold is a reminder that you must take a supportive English language course in addition to other courses in your major during your first semester in your degree program. If you have an AZ hold on your record, you will be notified via email. There are a number of ways to clear your AZ Hold. These options, along with English proficiency tests and minimum required scores is available at z.umn.edu/EnglishReq AP, IB, GCE AND A-LEVELUniversity credit is awarded for qualifying scores on Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), GCE A-Level exams and College in the Schools. By providing intentional programming & resources, these programs help students adjust to their new home. These programs are not limited to, but include:%u2022 First Six Weeks Calendar: There is a lot to explore and learn as you transition to a new campus! In order to help you get off to a strong start and take advantage of all the U of M has to offer, a calendar of events and resources has been created to help new transfer students in their initial weeks on campus.%u2022 Transfer Student Navigator: This program offers transfer students the opportunity to meet with a Transfer Student Navigator to get support and connect with campus resources during their first year at the U of M. Topics can include (but are not limited to) getting involved on campus, time management, health and wellbeing, major & career resources, and more.%u2022 25+ Transfer Student Support: Transfer students who are older than the traditional college student can face their own unique challenges finding community on campus. With that in mind the U of M has created a virtual 25+ Transfer Student Group to help transfer students who are 25 years and older connect with each other.%u2022 Undergraduate Transfer Student Advisory Board: This advisory board is made up of current U of M undergraduate transfer students who have completed at least one semester at the U of M.
