During that time the student may not attend any other Minnesota post-secondary educational institution.2 While Manitoba students receive in-state tuition as part of reciprocity, students should see the international student costs for estimated fees and mandatory insurance on page 13. 3 Non-resident definition: Students attending the U of M, but are not from Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, or Manitoba, Canada.4 Final housing and fees are estimates and will be determined in the summer of 2026 by the Board of Regents.5 Many students keep their miscellaneous expenses below this figure by spending responsibly. 6 Students who choose to take out a federal direct student loan incur origination fees set up by the federal program. These fees are included in the cost of attendance as the average amount paid by students who borrowed in the previous year at the U of M. Students who choose not to borrow do not incur any loan fees.7 Students enrolled in the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) and Minnesota Carlson will be charged an additional $1,450 per semester tuition surcharge to maintain innovative classrooms and laboratories.Tuition and Fees for New Undergraduate Students (2025-2026 Academic Year)CommuterResident1Residence Hall or Apartment (includes ND, WI, Manitoba2)Non-resident3Residence Hall or ApartmentTuition & Fees4 $18,626 $18,626 $41,512Books & Supplies $1,000 $1,000 $1,000Estimated Housing & Food4 $6,200 $14,672 $14,672Transportation $200 $200 $1,700Personal/Misc5 $2,000 $2,000 $2,000Loan Fee6 $158 $158 $158Total $28,184 $36,656 $61,042Surcharge for CSOM students and CSE students7 $2,900 $2,900 $2,900Total with Surcharge $31,084 $39,556 $63,942Reciprocity is not guaranteed.
