I was born in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, spent most of my childhood in Eau Claire, and in high school moved to White Bear Lake, Minnesota. I live in Roseville with my husband, our four kids, and two dogs. I have a BA in communications from Augsburg College and worked in that field for many years until having children. I stayed home with our kids when they were young. I volunteered at their school often and loved being there, so I started working at schools in different capacities before eventually going back for an MS in teaching, K-6 education. Prior to working at the University of Minnesota, I was a 3rd grade teacher.
I love to cook, bake, and sew and when my kids were young we spent a lot of time creating and learning how to do things. I sew a lot of my own clothes.

I also love to read and was really proud of my large classroom library when I was teaching. I live near my sister and she and I walk together every day. I live close to campus and enjoy riding my bike to work, and taking long bike rides with my husband on weekends. I love to travel with my kids. My kids and I have been to the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, France, and Latvia. I want to visit so many other countries, but I especially love Finland.
Why the university of Minnesota?
As a lifelong learner and educator, I’m passionate about education. It’s exciting to be in a higher education setting at the University of Minnesota. The St. Paul campus is beautiful and it’s a privilege to be a part of it. I’m happy to have the opportunity to support students, make community connections, and support AECM.
