AGRICULTURAL COMMUNICATORS OF TOMORROW
CRITIQUE & CONTEST
National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (NACT) awarded 12 ranking recognitions to chapter members of Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT) at the University of Minnesota for content submissions in the 2023 Critique and Contest. The NACT is meant to build relationships among agricultural communication professionals, college students and faculty, to provide professional and academic development for members and promote agriculture through communications efforts. Critique and Contest is the national communications and journalism competition for ACT student chapter members. In this contest, collegiate students have the opportunity to have their work analyzed by professionals, along with competing against other students from across the nation. The contest is open to active, dues-paying ACT members and includes six divisions: writing, publication, electronic media, photography, design & layout, and public relations.
“The NACT Contest challenged me and my skills in many aspects, but because I was faced with that challenge, I was inspired to work even harder to produce a professional and polished finished product,” said Hoffman, 2023 Agricultural Communication & Marketing and Animal Science graduate. “Having that end goal in mind motivated me to test my own abilities and see what I was really capable of from a creative perspective. Being a part of this contest adds meaning to the work we do so it’s not just another assignment we need to complete for a class.
It provided a space for me to develop my creative skills, it allowed me to create professional pieces that I was able to use in my personal portfolio for years to come, and it allowed me to represent my college at a national level.”
Twelve awards were presented to University of Minnesota - Twin Cities students, including three 1st place, four 2nd place, two 4th place, one 5th place, one 8th place and one 10th place.
