FINANCIAL AID
Financial Aid
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2024-2025 academic year is the application needed to apply for federal and state grants, federal & state college work study, some institutional aid, and federal
loans. You must apply annually for financial aid by completing the FAFSA for the school year.
If you have not already done so, you (and your family) should complete
the 2024-2025 FAFSA as soon as possi- ble at studentaid.gov.

Complete Additional Documentation
If additional information is needed to complete your financial aid, a letter will be mailed to your home address regarding how to access the documen- tation being requested.
Watch Your UMD Email Inbox
In late July, your financial aid offer notification will be emailed to your official UMD email account to notify you of your eligibility for grants, scholarships, federal or state work study, or loans from the federal direct student loan program.

Access Your Financial Aid
Go to the My Finances tab in MyU
at myu.umn.edu to view Billing & Payment and Financial Aid activity for your account.
Changes in Family Situation
If your family has a major change in financial status after you filed your FAFSA, you can contact 218-726-6733 to speak with our financial aid educator.
Scholarships
If you are receiving a non-University scholarship, please email
One Stop (umdhelp@d.umn.edu) and include the name of the scholarship offer and the dollar amount to ensure an accurate financial aid offer notice.
College Work-Study Employment
A work-study offer is a form of financial aid that helps undergraduate students by providing a job, usually on-campus. These funds are paid directly to the student for living expenses. You must complete the FAFSA to be considered for a federal or state work-study offer. Visit onestop.d.umn.edu/ finances/work-study-and-student- employment for more information.
Midwest Non-Resident
Residents of these states qualify for tuition comparable to resident tuition: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, & Ohio. South Dakota pending for 2024-25.
Reciprocity
Residents of Wisconsin, North Dakota, and the province of Manitoba, Canada may be eligible for reciprocity tuition rates. For more information visit, onestop.d.umn.edu/reciprocity- programs.

Fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Complete it as soon as possible.
If needed, submit additional documentation per instructions sent to you. Complete it as soon
as possible.
Respond to the offer notification sent to your UMD email in late July.
