INTEGRATIVE BIOLOGY & PHYSIOLOGY t 7 Dr. Lisa Carney Anderson, Director of Education This past academic year, we had robust productivity in terms of teaching and learning in the Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology. We have 10 full time educators who, with our tenure track faculty, teach 40 courses to over 4000 students. We mentor about 80 teaching assistants as part of our teaching mission. We serve on national, university and college committees. The teaching faculty have 9 publications, with an additional 2 in press. We have 13 teaching awards which includes Mark Cook as the Dental Professor of the Year, Joe Sepe as the Stephen Katz Excellence in Education Awardee, and Lisa Carney Anderson as a new fellow in the Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. Because of our teaching mission, our students are accomplishing great things. Ski U Mah!tEDUCATION PROGRAM UPDATESInclusive Excellence. In the fall term we opened applications for our third year of the Integrative Biology and Physiology Undergraduate Training (INPUT) program (input.umn.edu). Fellowships for the spring research were offered to: Abyan Ahmed (Sham Lab), Brooklyn Danke (Liu Lab), Khalil Edais (Revelo Lab), Omer Mitha (Williams Lab), Saanvi Nadgouda (Bartolomucci Lab), Ziham Nur (Ruan Lab) and Sofiri Tam-George (Batchelor Lab).The AHA-funded Undergraduate Physiology Research In Medicine and Education (UPRIME) program continues to attract juniors and seniors for summer research opportunities in our department (uprime.umn.edu). The students selected from this year%u2019s group of applicants included: Martha Alatorre-Martinez (from Mexico via Lake Forest College IL - Bartolomucci), Nangah Awasum (University of Minnesota - Alejandro Lab); Sajia Bushra (University of Georgia - Revelo Lab), Khalil Edais (University of Minnesota - Kotz Lab) and Ethan Lie(University of Minnesota - Metzger lab). During the 2024-2025 school year, the major had 283 students enrolled for the fall term and 301 students for the spring semester.90 of our students earned spots on the Dean%u2019s list for fall 2024 and 83 for spring 2025.We graduated 90 students and 10 of the students earned Summa Cum Laude honors. The average GPA for our graduates was 3.51 and the top 25% of the class averaged 3.91. There was a tie for the top GPA graduating amongst our graduating seniors between Sangwook Han and Livia Reeves.
