 Industry and
Graco Donation to ME Ambassadors
The ME Ambassadors Program seeks to close recruitment gaps in engineering by connecting K-12 students and mechanical engineering undergraduates, with the goal of reaching students in schools with limited STEM resources. Graco recently made a donation that will support the program’s expansion into a new elementary school, fund out-of-state training for the ambassadors, and enable on-campus field trips for elementary students to see themselves as future UMN mechanical engineering students. The program engages current ME undergraduates in peer-to-peer interactions with elementary and middle school students to serve as mentors, design activities and experiments to increase students’ interest in engineering, and provide information about the path to becoming an engineer.
Give to the Max for ME
The ME Ambassadors Program will be
participating in Give to the Max Day
on November 16, 2023. Consider making a donation to make the future of mechanical engineering brighter. Learn more about the ME Ambassadors Program and how you can support its future:

Guest Speaker: 3M and the ME Measurements Lab
3M manufacturing technology manager (and
ME alum!) Joel Gardner gave a presentation to Assistant Professor Ognjen Ilic’s Measurements Lab course called “Machine Vision Basics.” Gardner covered 3M products and the engineering that goes into them as well as general advice on designing experiments and more.
