The EM PA Residency Program launched in 2012 and for the past nine years has been successfully training physician assistants to practice competently and compassionately within the team of care providers in the field of emergency medicine. The Class of 2021 excelled despite the ongoing challenges that emergency medicine faces due to the coronavirus pandemic. Their adaptability and resiliency were commendable. Melissa Seldon has taken a position with our PA Staff. Ashley Warner has relocated to Detroit, MI
and is practicing in Ann Arbor, MI. Matthew Knealing has accepted a position in Glenwood, MN at a critical access hospital.
Fellowships
Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
Regions Hospital EMS has offered a one-year EMS fellowship since 2010, allowing graduates to sit for the board certification exam in EMS offered by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Aaron Burnett (’11)
is the State of MN EMS Medical Director and current fellowship director. The Regions EMS fellowship attracts physicians from across the country. Our fellows completed
Medical Toxiology (Med/Tox)
The Regions Hospital Clinical Toxicology Service and Medical Toxicology Fellowship is a joint venture between HealthPartners/Regions and the Minnesota Poison Control System. We continue to strive to provide education to fellows, residents, students. These learners are why we do what we do, and we look forward to continued work with them. This year the fellowship

In 2021 we welcomed Dr. Joseph Lippert from the University of Nebraska Medical Center residency as our most recent EMS fellow. Graduates of our fellowship serve in leadership roles both locally and nationally.
graduated Drs. Cole Pueringer and Chris Sweat, and welcomed Drs. Erin Batdorff and Ryan Fuchs. The program went through a leadership transition in 2021 as well. In July Dr. Jenna Wilkinson became the 3rd director in the history of the program. In the fall she matched two new fellows for the next incoming class; they will be the 24th and 25th fellows.
   Medical Quality Management & Patient Safety
The fellowship curriculum includes topics in medical quality management and patient safety from an integrated delivery system perspective. The curriculum is flexible based on career
Ultrasound
Our ultrasound fellowship was started in 2016 and two fellows have completed the fellowship. Incorporating scanning, teaching, research and administration, this experience is focused on providing a good foundation for academic or community ultrasound program oversight. the Regions Hospital Point-of-Care Ultrasound Committee which is a multi-department committee that oversees point-of-care ultrasound throughout the hospital. Our ED has a collaborative working relationship with radiology and cardiology, and our fellow learns in the ED as well as in the echo lab and radiology suite.
