Welcome to the 2022 HealthPartners Institute/Regions Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency Program’s Annual Report! We have had another great year of providing outstanding clinical care, performing important research, and educating the next generation of emergency physicians. We are excited to share all that we have been up to in this Annual Report.
The past few years in medicine and specifically Emergency Medicine have been full of unique new challenges, and 2022 was no different. As COVID cases ballooned and settled down again, the effects of the pandemic on the health care system have started to strain our system in new and different ways with staffing shortages inside and outside of our hospitals leading to boarding in our EDs that, fortunately for the Twin Cities, was a new problem for us to handle. Our Department and hospital leaders are doing a good job of helping us manage this next phase of effects of COVID.
In the Annual Report you will find updates from our Department Head, Director of Nursing, and Chief Residents. You will get to meet our fabulous residency class of 2025, learn more about our fellowship programs, and read spotlight pieces highlighting some current residents, faculty, and residency alumni, among other great features and updates! The people that make up our program are a big reason this is a special place to work and learn, and we’re excited for you to hear from many of the key people that make Regions Emergency Medicine great!
As always, we continue to be grateful for the support of our residency partners and are proud to highlight the opportunities we continue to be blessed with. Enjoy our annual update from St. Paul!
