 Fellowships
Quality Fellowship
The Healthcare Administration, Leadership, and Management (HALM) Fellowship prepares physicians for leadership roles within healthcare.
The two-year fellowship includes completion of a master’s degree in business administration, didactics,
and completion of capstone project. More information can be found at Medical Quality Management and Patient Safety – Regions Emergency Medicine Residency or by contacting Dr. Ryan Bourdon, fellowship director, at Ryan.T.Bourdon@HealthPartners.com.
International Fellowship
The fellowship focuses on preparing fellows to develop emergency medical systems and provide medical education in international settings. Monthly education sessions are helping us build relationships with other colleagues in the Twin Cities and addressing topics that are critical to the practice of global health. We are taking advantage of Regions’ other fellowships to gain perspectives on Global EMS and Global Toxicology. We partner with the University of Minnesota’s Global Health Pathway to enhance educational opportunities for our fellows, as well as HealthPartners International clinic to allow for more international and social medicine research opportunities. In addition to working clinical shifts, we actively participate in multiple annual education events with Mano a Mano in Bolivia.
Ultrasound Fellowship
Our ultrasound fellowship was started in 2016 and continues to evolve with the addition of newer ultrasound applications such as resuscitative TEE
and advanced regional nerve blocks. Incorporating scanning, teaching, research and administration, this experience is focused on providing a good foundation for academic or community ultrasound program oversight. Fellowship Director, Dr. Michael Zwank, also co-chairs the Regions Hospital Point-of-Care Ultrasound Committee which is a multi-department committee that oversees point-of-care ultrasound throughout the hospital. Our ED has a collaborative working relationship with radiology and cardiology, and our fellow learns in the ED as well as in the echo lab and radiology suite.
