The Warren Distinguished Lecture Series was made possible through a generous, renewing gift from Alice Warren Gaarden. CEGE is continually thankful for her generosity, which allows us to bring in researchers and practitioners to share their knowledge with students, faculty, and friends of CEGE. A lecture is held most Fridays (September to May) at 10:10 a.m. in the George J. Schroepfer Conference Theatre (room 210) in the Civil Engineering Building. If you cannot join us in person, please join us online. Registration is required for live streamed sessions. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meetings.SEPT 5 ALIREZA KHANI, University of Minnesota on transportationSEPT 12 JUDY YANG, University of Minnesota on water resourcesSEPT 19 JEFF BAN, University of Washington on transportationSEPT 26 BRAD MURRAY, Duke University, on coastal engineering and big dataOCT 3 CEGE GRADUATE STUDENTS, Three Minute Thesis ContestOCT 10 MENGSU HU, Energy Geosciences Division of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory OCT 17 RYAN ZIELS, Civil Engineering, University of British ColumbiaOCT 24 CRESTEN MANSFELDT, Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering, University of ColoradoOCT 31 DEXTER LECTURE %u2013 LARRY FAHNESTOCK, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, on Steel Structures, Large-Scale TestingNOV 7 GREG CHARACKLIS, University of North Carolina on financial risk from hazardsNOV 14 MIRCEA DAN GRIGORIU, Cornell on stochastic mechanicsNOV 21 SUE AHN, University of Wisconsin Madison, on traffic flowNOV 28 Thanksgiving weekend; no lectureDEC 5 MARCELO GARCIA, NAE, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign SpeakersFind full descriptions and information about online sessions atcse.umn.edu/cege/warren-distinguished-lecture-seriesFind our archive on YouTube @umnCEGEWARREN DISTINGUISHED LECTURE SERIESThe 2025 Fall Session of theUniversity of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering | DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND GEO- ENGINEERING 7
