UMD has over 200 student clubs and organizations!
Located at the heart of campus, the Kirby Student Center is the place to
be to discover student organizations, hang out with friends, or study between classes.
You’ll meet new people at events held in the Kirby Ballroom and Rafters; find community in the Multicultural Center, Kirby Lounge, and Underground; learn what’s happening in the Commons; and get answers to your questions at the Kirby Welcome Desk.
More than 200 orgs means something for just about everyone. From the Accounting Club to University Gaming Society and everything in between, there’s something for everyone.
When you join a student organization you’ll get the chance to meet like-minded people while also upping your leader- ship game, expanding your professional network, or just having fun.
It all comes down to this: clubs and orgs are MUCH more than just “involvement.” Getting involved has been shown to support your academic success and wellbeing.
Activities Fair
UMD’s Student Activities Fairs take place twice a year – once at the start of Fall semester and once at the start of Spring semester. You’ll find most of UMD’s 200 clubs/orgs represented via tablings and demonstrations. It’s a GREAT time to see what organizations are available, meet current members, and ask questions/sign up!

Advice on finding YOUR organization:
BulldogConnect lists every student organization at UMD in detail and allows you to view them based on categories: Academic, Activities/Recreation, Arts & Media, Cultural, Faith-Based/Spirituality,
Fraternities & Sororities, Honor
& Services Societies, Just for Fun, Political & Social Action, Pre-Professional, and Sports Clubs. You’ll also find org meeting times, locations, and officers so you can get connected. Download the CampusGroups app to your mobile device and find the BulldogConnect (UMD) Hub.
Over the summer, spend some time scrolling through the list of student organizations and identify a few that sound interesting. Plan to see them at the Activities Fair or join through BulldogConnect. Attend a few meetings at the beginning of the year, then decide which orgs you enjoyed and want to stick with.
Find your org, find your people! See you soon, Bulldogs!
