LIFE AT UMD: WELLBEING
Student Life Wellness/ Wellbeing Initiative
The UMD Student Life Wellness/ Wellbeing Initiative is composed of six dimensions:
MIND: Intellectual, Emotional and Spiritual
PURPOSE: Applying one’s unique abilities to gain meaning and direction
BODY: Lifestyle and behavioral patterns maintained over time to live in a balanced state of mind, body, and spirit
CONNECTEDNESS: The intertwining of the experiences of self and others to positively contribute to the UMD community
ENVIRONMENT: Connection with UMD surroundings and exploration of new environments
ECONOMIC: The ability to make economic choices and pursue employ- ment and opportunities that bring a sense of security.
Personal wellness and wellbeing is a critical component in creating success for students at UMD.
Wellness in student life begins within the person and is supported by three external factors (known as facilitators):
1. Access/Opportunity 2. Space/Resources
3. Safety/Security
